The team at Lynn & Brown are always happy to lend a helping hand to people in our local community and when the Native Animal Rescue Centre in Malaga asked us for some pro bono assistance, we were more than happy to help such a great cause.

The Native Animal Rescue centre is a not-for-profit, non-government incorporated body dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native animals

They rely totally on public donations and funds raised through their own fundraising activities and incidental funding grants from various government and non-government sources.

They are located on a 15 hectare natural bush site in Malaga and care for more than 3,500 native birds and animals in need each year. This includes native birds of various species, echidnas, kangaroos, possums, bandicoots and reptiles.

CEO Lizzie Aravidis said that whilst caring for sick and injured native animals was their number one priority, they were also involved in a number of conservation and community projects. Our River Connections program working in partnership with WAPol and PCYC provides a program for Youth at Risk using our inflatable Naiade boat on the Swan River to remove fishing line and waste and the rescue of Wildlife entanglements.

“We have a number of major conservation projects underway at the moment. One is the rehabilitation of black cockatoos research project on the endangered species Woylies, translocation of Chuditch (Quoll) to South Australia, where they have not been seen for over 100 years.

“A new Wildlife Veterinary hospital and specialised facility for the rehabilitation of penguins, seabirds and other water birds have been constructed and finalised in mid 2014.

Anyone who would like to support the development of this facility, or make a donation in general, please go to the website at www.nativeanimalrescue.org.au and help support this extremely worthwhile project.
