Verification of identification includes documentation such as passports, driver’s licenses, and other government-issued IDs. We help clients comply with various regulations and requirements, ensuring that they meet the standards set by the relevant authorities.

You will need to have your identity verified if you are:

  1. transferring land (i.e. purchasing or selling a property);
  2. borrowing a mortgage (typically a homeowner)
  3. requesting or replacing a duplicate certificate of title;
  4. making a survivorship or transmission application (applications for deceased estates);
  5. making a power of attorney; or
  6. lodging or withdrawing a caveat.

You can either:

  1. attend our office and meet with the solicitor on your matter.
  2. attend an Australia Post (Australia Post charge a $49 service fee for verification of identities).
  3. via text message link we will provide you using Scantek software (current fee of $27.50).

The options of documents you can supply to have your identity verified are set out below. The highest category are those documents in category 1. All documents relied on to complete the verification of identity should be current and original.

If you have changed your name legally via marriage or other means, you will be required to produce a change or name or marriage certificate in addition to the documents below.

1 Australian Passport (or foreign Passport) plus
Australian drivers licence with photo or Photo Card.
2 Australian Passport or foreign passport plus
full birth certificate or citizenship certificate or descent certificate plus
Medicare or Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs card.
3 Australian drivers licence with photo or Photo Card plus
full birth certificate or citizenship certificate or descent certificate plus
Medicare or Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs card.
