In May each year, Oaktree, one of Australia’s largest youth-run organisations, run the Live Below the Line campaign.

This campaign is a fundraiser to bring the topic of poverty to the forefront of conversations. The equivalent of the extreme poverty line in Australia is $2 a day!

Participants in this fundraising campaign feed themselves for only $2 per day for 5 consecutive days, whilst raising funds and gaining an understanding of what it feels like for those who are less fortunate.

Jasmine, step-daughter of Lynn & Brown’s Jacqueline Brown, participated in this fundraiser. Jasmine has this to say of her experience.

“The experience was humbling and helped me understand what those experiencing poverty go through.”
